Filming and Editing Blogs: filming empty spaces
Hello
my name is pascal bazile and I had some problems filming during my days of
filming I was not able to film everything but I was able to film enough
realizing that I have a lot more things I need to learn to keep things only 2 minutes.
In this late blog I will be answering What happened when you did film, I will
be recounting the events that have occurred during the entire weekend while I
was trying to film certain parts of my film. My main problem when filming is
trying to make all the scenes to be digestible or to more accurately say to be
able to have people understand everything that is going on without anyone being
confused. With that I wanted to make my beginning
of the entire scene great as it is the scene that is very important to the rest
of the scene, so I spent some time trying to make the entire thing make sense. So,
in my 2 minutes movie pitch scene there are a few shots that are there to give
an emotion of mystery to make the movie have a lot more horror elements or more
specifically supernatural elements. The masked figure in my movie pitch scene
is someone that can move around like a ghost and because the movies title is
called omniscient eye, I wanted to give an impression of him knowing
everything. I wanted to give the impression of the figure being able to follow
him as well as being able to change their figure, so I wanted to make the
mysterious figure be one that that is following the teenager. The shots
themselves will be used to be something that builds up some intensity until a
big event occurs in where the person that is being followed dies it’s a very
simple movie beginning. But after trying to do the shots I realized that I have
many problems that I need to fix some of those being that there could be a
problem with the type of lighting that those scenes will have. In my storyboard
I envisioned those scenes to have some light in them, but the thing is that I originally
thought that that lighting was meant to be there because the lights where on so
that’s how I wanted to make it. The scene that I am doing is something that is meant
to happen early in the morning at most likely 5:00 am I personally forgot as to
how I should make the lighting work because I wanted to know whether or not I
can keep the scene happen at night. When it is day in my house even during the
daytime the little hall that connects to the main two rooms the two storage
areas and bathroom light up because of the sunlight so I’m deciding if it would
be better to start the movie later. Then again, I remembered as to how I said
that it was going to be during nighttime as well as how making the entire thing
darker would fit the horror element in my film much better I decided to keep
the time frame in. I tried to have the teenager turn on the light when he gets out
with that sequence of events being good to make it all seamless, but I believed
that it would take a little too much time, so I decided not to. But when
reading over the script I remembered as to how the teenager said that his mom
left the lights on, I also remembered as to how on my shooting script it said
that the teenager opened the lights. I compromised by making it look like the
house had automatic lighting make it so that when the teen opened the door the
light just opened that was great for me to use to get out of the lighting problem.
Then my next problem my filming time I had to film on Saturday because of how
on Sunday I knew I would not get home until at least 9:00 PM so with that information
I had to film as fast as possible. The problem was that when waking up on Saturday
I slept unit it was 3PM when I originally went to sleep at 9PM on Friday so I was
not able to spend my time filming, so I had to compromised. The way that I personally
compromised was to do my best to stay up all night so I could be able to wake up
early so I can film some of the parts that require me to have the area look
dark. Thanks to that I was able to film the beginning in where I walked out of
my bed to go outside the room as well as filming all the blank shots in where the
masked figure left the area. After that on Monday I will spend my time filming
some of the film as well as to learn how to digitally film some of the scenes
in where I use my computer to check up on an email. Thank you for reading my
current blog I can’t wait to finish this 2-minute pitch scene so I can get it
over with have a great day to everyone who is currently reading this blog I wish
you a good day and to do well with all your future endeavor.
