Intro to media studies

 hello poor souls who stumbled onto having my blog to read my name is pascal bazile  i am in 10th grade and i am currently taking this media studies class and i will need to have at least 10-15 munities of your time for what i don't exactly know i think i need to talk about media studies so ill try to make something coherent.  I don't exactly have a personality apart from reading light novels/novels, reading manga and and trying to play good games so since this is a media studies class I believe I should talk about the reason as to why I'm here as it will be an appropriate subject. For starters I originally assumed that this class would talk about current events like the news that being because i saw the word "media" but it was about movies I don't watch a lot of films but i missed the time to leave so I'm stuck stay to get through. I do knowhow it takes a lot of time and  effort to construct a movie it requires a lot of time dealing with actors, producers, set designers, the visual effects department, music composers, and the background actors. movie making requires a lot of focus and luck t do well and to create your own vision without your producers going in to change the story and when that happens it can lead to bad reception. A key example would be the director Zack Snider on his movie justice league when the directors changed and caused the entire movie to derail because of the fact that the second director being Joss Whedon wanted to change the movie to be more light hearted.  It costs them a lot of money and with the recent announcement of the snider cut the positive reception confirmed to me as to how tough it is to make a movie your movie can be awful and do well at the box office or a masterpiece but will preform poorly because of circumstances you cant control viruses like the current coronavirus, poor CGI, fading trends can cost you a lot. With how the news media is giving out a lot more information on what is wanted more or less filmmakers do have a chance at being able to have a successful movie but in the end you need to have a vision a plan for what you need to do. Some people who have a vision are not always the best case in point M. Night Shyamalan  who even with a vision created films such as the happening and after earth so having a vision is good just make sure you are 100% clear on any mistakes that could be made. There are good and bad ideas but it depends on a lot of things one being actors good actors can make a movie fantastic but then again a bad movie with good acting a still a bad movie actors are necessary for a movie but good actors or popular actors are more recommended for more profits. Next it is looks having a good cinematic flair is something that is good for entertaining people some movies can survive by good visual effects , lighting, and good camera usage it just depends on what type of audience your looking for. Then we have editing if the editing is bad the movie is ruined its not a movie if you cant process what's on screen because of the fact that it cuts to different angles all the time it is used to make a scene fast pace or a scene with tension but it will just ruin either the fights or the tension it just makes the current scene bad to watch. Next is music the way that audio is used in the story should it be loud and boisterous or quiet and soft what emotion should we fell fear, happiness, sadness, anguish or perhaps you need to set a comedic or intense tone music is important depending on the genre of movie you want to make. Depending on the type of movie you want to make CGI is important for the visual aspect of a movie to much and it could look very fake and could provide a bad or cheep look to little and you will need to make a lot of preparations so that no one will be hurt when doing the physical stunts so you need both good CGI and a good amount of it to wok well depending on your movie. Another thing that I've seen that causes trouble is mainly the safety you need to be 100% safe both your actor and stunt double if your movie requires one need to stay safe making necessary safety precautions is the safest bet. Now onto trailers you want to show a film debuting a lot of emotion then make a trailer showing that if your movie is just a dumb action film filled with a lot of explosion show is as that know and target your audience if you try to impress everyone it could cause problems. With movies another thing you need to make sure of is the current state of the entertainment industry a good example being now thanks to the current pandemic movies and the film industry is suffering the movies that are currently coming out are not making much money so paying attention to current events is the smart thing to do but it will still be very hard to do you cant exactly tell the future Another huge problem is your actors or producers reputation mainly if they have been accused of a crime even if it is false like the false claims on Johnny deep you cant take the risk of your movie being received badly because of the potential controversies that may happen. The final thing I could say and the most important from what i have seen is that good writing is needed to make sure that a movie works writing is essential if you want a good story or character driven film then writing is important and even if its action oriented then writing can be used to aid the action be more enjoyable because of the better characterization. I'm not a filmmaker so don't take my words seriously  this is just what i have seen from what small amounts of movies that i have experienced watching I'm not an expert but I believe i did a good job pointing out the things that make a movie successful and what causes some of them to fail.
