tittle reserch (horror) the evil dead

When I was on artofthetitle.com I was searching for another and my final horror movie to do I was able to find an old movie that was loved by many people in the past that being the evil dead. The evil dead is a movie that I remember watching as a very young child that was not ready to view this very adult movie, but I enjoyed it especially the way that the title was shown.

1.     What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

It begins with a regular old credit sequence that is made in read blood like colored title and then after that it zooms up the tittle sequence when we se the movies name the evil dead. It’s the way that the word and letters are done that is good it has visual style with the regular words being very normal while some letters look like they are a lake. The dark desolate fog filled swamp it the looks at all the dark wood in the area doing a shot like the camera is in the perspective of a snake at the beginning becoming more like a bug. For a film that is old the way that it was able to do what it did was very impressive it did a well job at establishing the atmosphere making the movie seam dark. As well as how they were able to make the setting look much much better and where able to explore it well with such a small time of it showing on screen it was great.

.     What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The dark desolate fog filled swamp it did well when prioritizing that aspect of the entire scene because of how the setting impacts what is going to happen in the movie. And then it moves to the car in where the audience can piece together that some bad accident had happened giving the movie the best start that I can without any dialogue.

3.     What connotations do these images carry?

4.     A swamp is associated with water as well as a lot of plants and animals but people who research and know about nature but for Halloween it is known for things such as witches. It is known for witch’s witchcraft, magic more specifically dark magic and many more horror type themes that is why the images in the films work well for this type of movie.  In the movie the fog was used to give the movie a more mysterious edge and that is basically what fogs connotation is basically how it adds a lot more mystery. Giving questions on to what will happen? what is behind the fog/ the problem? what will the story be? How will they will get out this this problem etc. In the end it works well for this movie. Its hard to see through and causes problems for the people who are in it it is perfect for creating mystery and suspense and is a great element inside a great horror movie.

How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

The fact that it begins with the use of a lot of fog giving it a mysterious tone filled with potential danger as well as it having a read bloody title help it gain the horror type fell the movie is trying to give. And as I say the fact the film also as elements of witches and witchcraft thanks to the food that might be reminiscent  of cauldron smoke and the swamp that could be a reference to witches themselves that is how they make it look like it belongs in the horror genre for it trying to be scary.

6.     What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

Its target audience are horror fans o it displays the horror theme by connecting its movie with the horror genre right away my making the title theme look like flowing blood. It also refences swamps an environment know for the witches that are said to live in the area that the beginning scene is set in so basically it works just like that it is very simple.

How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques

They most likely used fog machines in the movie to make sure that they can do the opening in a way to have enough of a good impact when they brought in the title screen as well as to make the environment look good. They also did the camerawork in a great way having it move around for the audience to take in the entire setting it works very well thanks to the way they moved the camera.
